Libertyville Wrestling Club

Effective for the 22-23 season, the Libertyville Wrestling Club is now part of Libertyville Wildcat Youth Sports. The program is the official feeder program for the Libertyville High School wrestling team and will follow the same principles which have made LHS wrestling a top program in Illinois for the past 30+ years.

Goals: The program is for kids new to the sport of wrestling or returning wrestlers preparing to compete in middle school. We focus on fundamental technique that works at every level from youth competition through college. We will also incorporate games and fun activities to keep the kids engaged while also building wrestling skills and overall athleticism. Finally, we hope to inspire a lifelong passion for the sport as both an athlete and a fan.

Ages: K thru 5th grade.

Season: For grades K-2, the season is from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31. For grades 3-5, the season will extend to Feb. 28.

Practice: Two times per week from 7-8pm (days to be determined). Grades 3-5 will have periodic, additional Sunday practices from 12-1pm.

Practices are held in the Libertyville High School wrestling room. Bring wrestling shoes and a water bottle to each practice. Headgear and mouthguard are optional. Practices are run by parent volunteers.

Competition: The program will host meets with other wrestling clubs in the area throughout the season. Meets will take place in the LHS wrestling room with wrestlers matched based on size, age, and skill.

We will not be competing in tournaments as a team, but wrestlers are welcome to enter tournaments individually or compete in the IKWF state tournament at the end of the season.

Registration: Open in the Fall.

Cost: Will be published in the Fall.

Parent volunteers: We welcome any parents interested in assisting during practice – no wrestling experience necessary. If interested, you may contact Tim McGrory at .

Questions: If you have questions about the program, you may contact Tim McGrory at .
